Fine rectangular Guildite and 14 kt rose gold wristwatch. Guildite (from ‘Gruen Guild’) is the Gruen’s brand name for a stainless steel alloy.
Case two-body, solid, polished, curved lugs, decorations on the bands, snap on case back and crown.
Dial silver with painted Arab numerals for the hours, auxiliary seconds dial with painted Arabic numerals. Blued steel épee and moderne hands.
M 877, rhodium-plated, 15 jewels, lateral lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring, index regulator.
Dial, case and movement signed. Dim. 21 x 40 mm.
Both Gruen and Rolex had a stake in the company Aegler in the 1930’s and they produced the calibre 877 rectangular double dial ”Doctors” movement utilized in this as well as the Rolex Prince model.
