The rectangular panel carved with the coat of arms for the RAMSDEN family of Byram, Yorkshire, Baronets of Byram created 1689, the ring setting with C scroll and shell detail. Size : 7 RAMSDEN family of Byram, Yorkshire, Baronets of Byram created 1689. The central escutcheon (of pretence) corresponds to the wife of the baronet who would be an heiress. Here the escutcheon as seen in the image I feel is too small to show all of the detail required for the arms of the Baronet’s wife. With this in mind I believe that the arms as seen correspond to Sir John RAMSDEN (1755-1839) the 4th Baronet Ramsden, who married in 1787 Hon. Louisa Susan Ingram-Shepherd, daughter and coheiress of Charles Ingram, 9th Viscount of Irvine. This dates the seal to the period 1787-1839.
