His heroic actions were rewarded with the granting of the Deakin & Francis crest – a cherished symbol still in use today. Based in Regents place, within the heart of Birmingham’s jewellery quarter, the firm have remained in the same building since 1786 and it even once had as its resident legendary James Watt – father of the Industrial Revolution!
