A Mid-19th Century Micromosaic Bracelet Circa 1860

An antique micro mosaic panel bracelet  comprising six micro mosaics depicting famous ancient Roman monuments in bloomed 18ct. yellow gold tiered mounts enhanced by within gold borders of applied ropetwist and beaded decoration.

In excellent condition and a fine example of this type of work of this era. Micro mosaics depicting ancient Roman monuments, symbols from the Vatican, and Pliny’s doves were among the popular mementos travellers purchased in Rome on the Grand Tour - an essential experience for well bred and affluent English men and women in the 1870s. Many were taken back to England to be mounted. This bracelet is completely made in Rome, Italy where a number of very fine jewellers worked in the Archaeological and Etruscan Revival styles.
