A Mid-19th Century Micromosaic Bracelet Circa 1860

An antique micro mosaic panel bracelet with six micromosaics depicting famous ancient Roman monuments set in 18ct. yellow gold.
This piece is in excellent condition and a fine example of this type of work of this era. Micromosaics depicting ancient Roman monuments, symbols from the Vatican, and Pliny’s doves were among the popular mementos travellers purchased in Rome on the Grand Tour - an essential experience for affluent English men and women in the 1870s. Many pieces were taken back to England to be mounted. This bracelet is completely made in Rome, Italy where a number of very fine jewellers worked in the Archaeological and Etruscan Revival styles.
